Seniorsfirst is the dba of Presbyterian Homes & Services of Genesee Valley, Inc., a 501c3 not-for-profit organization in Rochester NY, providing a continuum of community-based and residential senior services.
What communities and services are included in Seniorsfirst?
Seniorsfirst is comprised of Kirkhaven, a skilled nursing facility located at 254 Alexander Street; and Valley Manor, an independent senior apartment community at 1570 East Avenue with an assisted living apartment community at 1530 East Avenue. In addition, Seniorsfirst manages a health & fitness center open to the public, an adult day program for seniors with mild to moderate dementia, and a contract referral service for seniors living at home.
How long has Seniorsfirst operated?
Seniorsfirst Communities & Services formed in 1999 by the Boards of Directors of Kirkhaven and Valley Manor. Valley Manor was established in 1971 as the first independent senior living community in New York State, and Kirkhaven was established in 1984.

As a 501c3 not-for-profit corporation, Seniorsfirst qualifies as a charitable organization for tax-deductible donations under IRS regulations and is exempt from taxes. This allows Kirkhaven to operate with a 65% Medicaid census without compromising the quality of care provided. It also allows us to sustain much-needed affordable services for low-to-moderate income families. All surpluses from Seniorsfirst Communities & Services are funneled back into the organization, allowing us to keep pace with the ever-evolving needs of the senior community.
How does the Seniorsfirst Foundation serve seniors?
In addition to its communities and services, the Foundation strives to educate the public, raise the standard of care throughout the community and encourage quality of life to seniors of every economic stratum.
How can I contribute to the Seniorsfirst Foundation?
There are a variety of donation instruments in place through Jean Pope Boyle, our Director of Development, to benefit specific or general initiatives at Seniorsfirst. Donations can also be made online at www.seniorsfirstonline.com and through our annual Lobster Bisque fundraiser for Alzheimer's services. Our facilities gratefully accept volunteers, interns and in-kind donations, too.
