Richard Kaplan is the President and CEO of Pictometry International Corp. Since joining the company in 1999, he has shaped Pictometry’s patented technology into the leading state-of-the-art visual intelligence tool, making Pictometry the worldwide leader in digital, aerial, oblique imagery and measuring software systems.
Formerly President of Richland Industries, Inc. and Max Pies Floor Coverings, a retail floor covering chain, Kaplan founded Resnick Media Associates, Inc., an advertising and marketing agency, and Blanton Communications, Inc., a computer software company. Prior to that, he was President of RAK Realty Corporation, a real estate development company, and founded WorkSmart International Inc., a human resource development, publishing, and training company for multi-market, multinational corporations and organizations.
Kaplan founded and led the Maxim Group Inc, previously a publicly-held company traded on the New York Stock Exchange (MXG), as well as the Comon Group, a franchise initiator in retail photography with a chain called CLIX.
Widely-recognized for his expertise as a private consultant and guest lecturer on topics including marketing, economics, and organizational development, Kaplan actively serves on the boards of many start-up companies. Additionally, he serves on numerous advisory boards including the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) where he serves as Chairman of the Board; the Rochester Angel Investment Network, where he serves as Vice President; the High Tech Incubator at RIT, where he serves as a board member; the Nazareth College EP Board and the University of Rochester Venture Development Advisory Board.
The former Chairman for the Monroe County Division of the American Red Cross, Kaplan is actively involved in board leadership roles for several community organizations including Camp Good Days and Special Times, the Better Business Bureau, the Charter School for Science and Technology, Rochester’s Child, Sojourner House, Wilson Commencement Park Advisory Board, the Rochester Broadway Theater League and the Martial Arts Center of Rochester.
Kaplan is a former U.S. Congressional candidate and the author of the book A Time For C.A.R.I.N.G which details a theory on social remediation in democracies. Kaplan attended Rochester Institute of Technology and the University of Buffalo. |
